Prakasam district Collector G.S.R.K.R.Vijaykumar led the admirers of noted poet Gurram Jashuva in paying glowing tributes to the great scholar in Telugu and Sanskrit on his 118th birth anniversary here on Friday. The Collector hailed the great poet who had fought against social discrimination with the power of pen. Poets Katti Kalyan, Chadalavada Lakshminarasimha Rao, Mallavarapu Rajeswara Rao, Ponnuri Venkata Srinivasulu, Senagapati Subba Rao, Ch. Subramanya Sarma were among those honoured on the occasion.
Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti State General Secretary Usirpati Brahamaiah, Dalit Hakula Parirakshana Samiti district president Neelam Nagendra Rao, Rashtra Dalit Sena district president P.Madhusudan Rao and Sena district secretary Edara Chandramouli were among those who garlanded the statue of Jashuva here and vowed to rededicate themselves to uplift the downtrodden sections of people.
Jashuva had espoused the cause of weaker sections of people through, among other works, ‘Gabbilam’ and ‘Firadausi’, they recalled.
