Rajahmundry: Rich tributes were paid to legendary social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu on his 90th death anniversary on Wednesday. Widows, orphan girls sang songs penned by great visionary Veeresalingam like-“Vedamla Ghoshinche Godavari, Amaradhamamla Sobhille Rajamahendri”, “Tenela tetala matalato mana desa matane kolichedama” and other lyrics .
Under Hitakarini Samajam a prayer meeting was arranged at Ananda Gardens, the samadhis of Kandukuri Veeresalingam and Kandukuri Rajyalakshmi . Hitakarini president Dasi Venkatrao, MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao, Veeresalingam Theistic Colleges’ executive officer G. R. Chalapatirao, Principal Santa Rajyam.
Deemed University: MLA Suryaprakash Rao in a meeting arranged in Kandukuri Rajyalakshmi College in connection with Veeresalingam death anniversary, has said that there are plans to develop all the educational institutions run by Hitakarini Samajam in the name of Kandukuri Veeresalingam will be brought under one roof and will be developed as Deemed University.
He said that the spirit and encouragement given by Veeresalingam Pantulu has led the society, particularly women to be empowered on all fronts.
He said that the society will change, whenever the women in the society get status and financial stability.
After the meeting, sarees were distributed to widows, orphans and Annadanam was arranged for poor.
