Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu of the AP High Court on Thursday granted bail to retired judicial officer T. V. Chalapathi Rao in the cash-for-bail scam case involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
It may be recalled that the ACB alleged that Chalapathi Rao influenced another judge Pattabhi Rama Rao to grant bail to Mr. Janardhan Reddy in the illegal mining case and arranged for money.
Justice Govindarajulu took into consideration the fact that the investigation was over and the final charge-sheet was filed, and that the other accused in the case were also granted bail in the case. Chalapathi Rao was directed to produce two sureties for Rs. 1 lakh each and deposit his passport in the ACB court.
