Results of ‘Telugu Kavithalu' competition announced

PVP Siddhartha Institute of Technology student Bhavani Sankar and Harika of Gudlavalleru Engineering College won the first and second prizes for the ‘Telugu Kavithalu' competition, while Rajendra Prasad of GEC received the consolation prize. The literary competition was held as part of GECFEST-'11-'12 organised by Gudlavalleru Engineering College on its campus on Saturday night. The prizes were presented to the winners at the closing ceremony on Saturday in which popular lyricist of Tollywood, Chandrabose, addressed the gathering and later sang a few numbers. Renowned musician, Koti and his troupe entertained the students with their renditions. He, along with his team members, Srikrishna, Geetha Madhuri, Malavika, Krishna Chaitanya, Deepu, Sravana Bhargavi, Sai Silpa, Karthik and Prasanth stole the show with their foot-tapping numbers. The organising committee felicitated the artists with a shawl and a memento.

A couple of civil engineering projects and ‘Robo Race', exhibited at the fest, attracted the visitors.

The exhibits mirrored the technical knowledge and thirst of the students. Some of the skill games meant for the improvement of mind power, games enhancing the basic technical skills, stamp collection were part of the festival. The college arranged a radio in the name of ‘Rockers Team' to convey information regarding the results of sports, literary and cultural, technical paper contests. The stall ‘Hope', won everyone's appreciation as the team members, under the leadership of Anupama, of III B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering student of GEC collected Rs.11,000 with the help of the hand-made greeting cards. The amount was handed over to the Dean, Student Affairs of the College, to be spent on social activities. College chairman V. Nageswara Rao, Secretary and correspondent V. Satyanarayana, co-secretary V. Rama Krishna and correspondent V. Subba Rao, president, K. Krishna Rao, vice-president, S.R.K.Reddy, director, P. Nageswara Reddy, principal, and convener of GECFEST V. R. L. Narasimham, along with students attended the programme.
