KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar Telugu Desam (TDP) legislator G. Kamalakar has said that all the TDP legislators of Telangana will resign en masse if Medak TDP legislator M. Hanumantha Rao resigns for the cause of separate statehood.

Answering a query while addressing a new conference here on Friday, he said that the Medak legislator had challenged the resignation over some differences with TRS leader T. Harish Rao in the district. “We all the TDP legislators of the region will resign en masse if Mr. Hanumantha Rao tenders his resignation. If the resignations alone will achieve Telangana State, we will be in the forefront,” he pointed out.

Mr. Kamalakar appealed to the pro-Telangana activists not to obstruct the elected representatives by demanding their resignations which would dilute the cause of separate Telangana movement. Expressing concern over the protests in front of his residence and setting of fire to his effigies, he said that such incidents would demoralise the leaders. He clarified that he had not visited Karimnagar town for a long time because of the Assembly session.

He said that the TRS legislators had resigned en masse without discussing with the Joint Action Committee (JAC). He said that the Telangana TDP leaders had formed into a forum and would launch a crusade till the formation of separate Telangana State.
