Camp office of Jalagam Venkat Rao also ransacked by Telangana Rashtra Samiti workers
KHAMMAM: Irate TRS workers in the district who resorted to vandalism while protesting the arrest of party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao targeted the camp offices of two Congress leaders in the town.
The camp office of former Union Minister of State Renuka Chowdary, which is located in the industrial estate on the outskirts of the town came under the attack. They vainly tried to break open the doors. Later, they poured kerosene on one of the windows and set fire to it. Meanwhile, a few onlookers put out the flames, minimising the loss.
The camp office of Jalagam Venkat Rao, son of former Chief Minister Jalagam Vengal Rao was also ransacked by a group of irate TRS workers. They sneaked into the building and set fire to the furniture. They damaged the portraits of the former Chief Minister as well.
The supporters of Ms. Chowdary and Mr. Venkat Rao condemned the TRS-sponsored attacks.
Police pickets were put up at all important places in the town following the attacks. Security for the VIPs and elected representatives was enhanced. The CPI (ML)-New Democracy, which backed the indefinite fast launched by the TRS chief, staged a protest demonstration in front of the district headquarters hospital.
The PDSU district units also staged protests near the Collectorate during the day. Some six batches of protesters of the PDSU were arrested by the police. They were let off later in the day.
