Devotees attend midnight service and offer special prayers
SANGAREDDY: Christmas was celebrated with religious fervour in Medak district on Friday. Though the crowd was less in the morning due to the effect of strike observed by JAC on Thursday, people started thronging the churches gradually. Many people brought packed food .
Thousands of devotees from neighbouring Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Hyderabad arrived in Medak town to seek blessings of Jesus Christ.
Special prayers were held from 4.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. . The prayers were conducted by Bishop T.S. Kanakaprasad.
As all the roads led to the Church, there were traffic jams at many places in Medak town.
At the Church a few people offered prayers in big queues, while others lit candles to celebrate the festival. A few of them also broke coconuts in traditional style.
Thousands of devotees arrived at the CSI Church located at Sangareddy.
Festive mood was quite evident among devotees. The premises was decorated with colourful lights and the celebrations continued till late night on Friday.

Clad in new clothes, Christians attended midnight service and offered special prayers at the colourfully illuminated Churches in the town.
Minister for Information Technology Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who resigned to his post on Thursday, participated in the Christmas celebrations in the town. He cut a cake and distributed sweets at the CSS Telugu Baptist Church on the occasion.
Meanwhile, speaking to media men later at his residence Mr. Venkat Reddy reiterated that he had resigned to his post to spearhead the cause of separate Telangana.
“I am planning to leave for New Delhi on Saturday along with my colleagues from Telangana region to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi,” he said.
Mr. Venkat Reddy asserted that the leaders would prevail upon Ms. Sonia Gandhi to announce a specific time frame for the formation of a separate Telangana State.
