NIZAMABAD: The CPI(ML)-New Democracy district secretary K. Yadagiri demanded the immediate release of Rythu Coolie Sangham State secretary V. Prabhakar, district vice-president B. Bhaskar and executive member Ramakrishna. The three were arrested in Sirikonda mandal headquarter when they attempted to distribute Government land to the poor and landless. In a press release, he said the duo had to resort to this attempt as revenue authorities failed to keep up their promise to distribute the 300-acre Government land available in the village in Survey number 532.

In the last six months, every time the rythu coolies tried to occupy this piece of land, the authorities came in the way with assurance of official distribution, but to no avail.

Arrest condemned

Arrest of the leaders was highly condemnable as the Government, on one side was claiming that it was giving away waste and barren land to the poor and on the other, arresting and harassing the rythu coolie sangham workers when they tried to occupy the land.
