Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has ordered the release of Rs.133 crore, being the share of the State government in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) works in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. The share of Central and State governments' to be released to the GVMC towards JNNURM works accounts for Rs. 328 crore.
The Chief Minister reviewed the implementation of the JNNURM in the mission cities in the State at his camp office in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
He directed the Finance Department to release the Rs.1,003 crore due to the mission cities.
Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the progress of the projects and the problems faced at field level. Asking that the first phase of mission projects be completed by March 2012, he directed that steps should be taken for release of funds every three months.
The Chief Minister wanted plans for the second phase to be prepared and submitted, according to GVMC Chief Engineer B. Jayarami Reddy.
