Anand Kumar allegedly harassing students of engineering college by sending obscene messages

Some girl students almost decided to discontinue their course due to Kumar’s alleged harassment

HYDERABAD: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday directed the Cyberabad police to register a criminal case against a youngster, Anand Kumar, who allegedly had been harassing some students of a private engineering college by sending obscene messages through his mobile phone.

Observing that ‘it was surprising that no action was taken by any public authorities’, the Commission directed the Alwal ACP, Prabhakar Reddy, to monitor the case. It also instructed the Shamirpet police, under whose jurisdiction Anand Kumar lives, to register case under appropriate sections of criminal and cyber crime laws and submit an action taken report by March 31.

The Commission gave the directions after some students of the Malla Reddy Engineering College, Kompally, led by a NGO, complained that Kumar of Aliabad in Shameerpet had been harassing the girl students by sending obscene messages through his mobile phone No. 97051 64003.

He mentally tortured a girl student aged about 18 years. He allegedly used to send messages to the girl’s parents and other family members as well.

The girl told the Commissioner that even her father died of the mental harassment by Kumar.

Some girl students almost decided to discontinue their course due to Kumar’s alleged harassment.
