HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday acknowledged that the high red gram price was hurting people, but assured them that it would be made available for Rs. 30 a kilo within the next three to four months.
“Red gram price is a matter of concern. It’s the only aspect where we are helpless because if we intervene in the market, the price might shoot up to more than Rs. 90 a kilo. Red gram is unavailable in the international market to import and the crop got damaged in the country this year,” he explained at an assets distribution function of GHMC.
Dr. Reddy informed that the government was taking steps to make available the commodity later this year at an affordable price.
