VIJAYAWADA: The city police busted a gang, comprising realtors and former zamindars of Mirzapuram, which is allegedly involved in cheating, extortion and conspiracy.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Police Commissioner K. V. Rajendranath Reddy charged real estate brokers Imtiayzuddin, Muralidhar Singh and Farooq of Vijayawada and Premchand Reddy of Kalaparru in West Godavari district with coming together to grab and sell away lands worth Rs. 10 crores in Gannavaram area.

They were charged with taking the help of Nuzvid resident Muralinayana alias Kodipunjula Dora in luring Meka Navaneeta Krishna Appa Rao, one of the heirs of former Mirzapuram zamin, to join hands with them. They also lured Appa Rao’s daughter Kotagiri Lakshmi Divya to join hands with them for making handsome money.

Appa Rao, who sold his share of 20 acres located in survey Nos. 376, 377 and 379 in Gannavaram during 1970s, was sweet talked into handing over the partition deed. They later entered into an agreement with document writer K.V. R. Kishore of Gannavaram for making necessary arrangements at sub-registrar’s office for registering the lands located in survey nos. 34/4B1, 176/1 and 176/2 in their names. They spent nearly Rs. 12 lakhs towards registration, brokerage and share of Rs. 4.5 lakhs to Appa Rao, the Commissioner said.

Case registered

However, the real owners of the lands came to know about the developments and registered a case with the police, Mr. Reddy said, adding that special team was formed to investigate into four such complaints. Mr. Reddy said the police had arrested all the accused, except Imtiyazuddin.

The Commissioner said they were probing the role of the sub-registrar concerned in these cases.
