Krishnadevaraya Lalitha Kala Thoranam

The prevailing obsession of the State government in naming structures and schemes after Rajiv and using the name as a prefix is indeed deplorable. The renaming of Lalitha Kala Thoranam after Rajiv has attracted a controversy in the State. In fact, Rajiv Gandhi, during his reign, had done nothing to promote Telugu language and culture and he was only instrumental in introducing and promoting the IT field and computers in the country. Hence, all things related to the IT field can be named after Rajiv, but with regard to renaming of the Lalitha Kala Thoranam, it is expedient that the State government had better considered the name of Sri Krishna Devaraya, who was in fact the only prominent ruler who patronised and promoted the Telugu language and culture.

Hence, the controversial renaming of Lalitha Kala Thoranam aptly deserves to be spelt as “Krishnadevaraya Lalitha Kala Thoranam” so that it will not attract any qualms .

Delay in issuing passport

I applied for a fresh passport at GPO - Abids on June 26, 2010, bearing the file no HYDW253841-10.

When 70 days elapsed after the submission of application, the police inquiry was done on September 5. Now the official website of RPO, Hyderabad, indicates my status as ‘Police report is clear and the passport is expected to be dispatched by 11-10-2010, subject to all documents being in order'.

It has already been four months since I applied, but till date, I have not been issued my passport. I request the authorities concerned to look into the matter and help me out getting my passport, as I have to travel for Gulf next month.
