Replace the post box

The post box hanging from the electric pole at the road junction at Chinnawaltair, on the road from Government Hospital for Mental Health to Vuda Park in the East Point Colony, is highly corroded. It appears that due to the rust the bottom would fall off any time. The postal authorities should take note of the state of the post box and take steps to replace it immediately.

Punish cruel teachers

Inspite of periodical directives from authorities and courts the learned teachers continue to treat the children with cruelty. It is most unfortunate that the teachers are not in a position to understand the psychological behaviour of the tiny tots. The authorities should issue necessary instructions to the educational institutions to conduct refresher courses for teachers on child behaviour and how to treat them. Any violation by the teachers must be viewed seriously.

Public spat

The unseemly spat between Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy and Congress MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Rao reflects poorly on the party.

It is not clear if the Congress high command has given an assurance on giving Visakhapatnam ticket to T. Subbarami Reddy.

The two should wait for the party to announce the ticket rather than air their differences in the open.

Power crisis

The country needs new thermal and nuclear power plants to enable the industrial development.

The power shortage has also affected the farm output. Rather than oppose these projects the public should push the authorities to ensure stricter compliance with pollution.
