The severity and the depth of emotion of Telangana people was amply shown in the Necklace Road rally in Hyderabad last week and so did the inept handling of it by the State government with police action and arrest of Congress MP’s from Telangana. That formation of Telangana State can no longer wait for the absurd statements of Congress High Command and Centre asking for a consensus from two regions with diametrically opposite view.
Andhra and Rayalaseema peoples and State Government had heavily invested in and around Hyderabad and elsewhere while the rest of Telangana and northern coastal districts remained backward. Formation of Telangana can no longer wait and the Centre should initiate action, keeping Hyderabad as joint Capital, at least temporarily, like Chandigarh to avoid bloodshed and loss of property.

Fire in trains
Increasing incidents of fire accidents in railway compartments are threatening the safety of passengers. While it is necessary to deeply probe into the matter and find remedial measures, it is equally important to bar all material from the compartments which enhance fire risk. For example, the curtains in II AC and III AC bogies need to be dispensed with, as they serve no useful purpose. Moreover, in case of any mishap, the results would be terrible.
People in general are disappointed and annoyed about the proceedings in the brief monsoon session of AP Legislative Assembly. Development largely depends on the mindset of people’s representatives to whatever political party they are associated with. Almost every one is wondering how long our elected representatives indulge in blame game to disrupt proceedings in the Assembly by opposing every thing without discussing issues of public importance to find out long-term solution for all issues.
It is high time traffic chaos is controlled on the National Highway no. 5 at Carshed Junction, Madhurawada. Since most of the educational institutions are concentrated in the vicinity of Madhurawada, the school and college transportation vehicles are always on high risk as there are no traffic signals to avert any unforeseen accident.
The service lanes are always crowded with street vendors and three-wheelers. It is very difficult for pedestrians to cross between the lanes. I hope the GVMC takes necessary action for the people’s safety and provide highway lighting up to the city limits.
