PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana on Thursday lost his cool over pot-shots fired at him by YSR Congress leader Sharmila during her padayatra in Vizianagaram district prompting him to make derogatory remarks against late Rajasekhara Reddy and his family members.

The trigger was Ms. Sharmila’s reference to his alleged connections with liquor business at a public meeting in Cheepurpalli Assembly constituency, when she described him as “liquor mafia don”.

Visibly irked at a press conference, the PCC chief turned his ire on Ms. Sharmila’s father, the late Rajasekhara Reddy, by making personal remarks at him and at her husband Anil Kumar. He said the YSR Congress was born out of ill-gotten wealth and its leaders had no moral right to criticise the Congress party.

Correspondent adds: Ms. Sharmila continued her tirade against the PCC chief charging that the latter had links with liquor mafia and said it was unfortunate that the Congress had made him the party president.

Speaking at a public meeting at Bobbili on Thursday evening, the YSRC leader said: “Had he channelised 10 per cent of his energy on issues other than his personal interests, the lives of the people in the district would have improved.”
