VISAKHAPATNAM: A rare diamond necklace and a diamond ring belonging to the former Raja and Rani of Gangpur (Orissa) were found missing from the daughter's house at Pandurangapuram on Tuesday night.
According to the police, Jayanthi Bharat Kumar, daughter of the former Raja, was staying at Varsha Apartments. She had worn the necklace two days ago for a party and put them back in the safe the same night. She opened the iron safe last night found the precious necklace and diamond ring missing. Three Town CI Annepu Narasimha Murthy said that the iron safe and the doors of the house were intact but the valuables were missing.
In a daylight robbery, a robber decamped with Rs.25 lakhs from a house at Ram Nagar on Wednesday afternoon.
P. Chandrasekhar withdrew Rs.25 lakhs from his bank account to meet some expenditure and kept the cash at home. He went out on some work when a thief sneaked in and threatened Chandrasekhar's wife with a knife and stole the cash. Three Town police are investigating the case.
A pedestrian was knocked down by a bus close to the Police Outpost near RTC Complex on Wednesday.
The unidentified man, aged around 35 years, wearing green colour baggy trousers and a striped shirt was hit by the RTC bus going towards Railway Station and died on the spot. The body has been kept at the KGH mortuary.
