Minister calls upon young citizens to work hard
GUNTUR: Young citizens of the country must work hard to provide a direction to the country in the days to come when their intellect provides the basis for taking crucial decisions, Minister for Airports, Ports and Investments Mopidevi Venkata Ramana has said. Giving away gold medals and other prizes to meritorious poor students here on Saturday on behalf of Dr. Ramineni Foundation, the Minister said the Government would provide all possible help in taking up programmes meant for encouraging students academically.
The foundation presents awards to headmasters of Zilla Parishad schools, which had produced students scoring highest marks in the SSC public examination and meritorious students from each of the 57 mandals. “Students studying in these schools are usually from economically poor background and do not have perception on various aspects of academics. However, having achieved good marks they need to be encouraged,,” the Minister added.
Appreciating the efforts of the foundation, he said this would definitely encourage other teachers and students to perform better. The Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya said that the foundation had been giving away these awards for the past five years. The Ipuru mandal Koccherla School and Nadendla mandal Kanaparru school headmasters were given away awards for their students’ achievement and five students presented with gold medals and cash certificates. One student from each mandal was chosen based on their economic status and merit for the award. District Collector Mohammed Ali Rafat complimented the Foundation for its efforts to promote education in the district.
