Former Chairman of the A.P. State Cultural Council, R.V. Ramanamurthy, the 77 year-old who strove for five decades in fostering culture, died early on Sunday morning at a corporate hospital here, leaving behind his wife and two daughters.
Among those who paid their respects and visited his residence were Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Minister for IT Ponnala Lakshmaiah, MP T. Subbarami Reddy, singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and yesteryear actress Jamuna. A host of personalities from the fields of art and culture also came to pay their last respects. A multi-faceted personality, Ramanamurthy produced three films ‘Abhinandana’, Neerajanam’ and ‘Sai Mahima’ - all of which bagged Nandi Awards. He was close to former Chief Minister, T. Anjaiah. ‘Bhagyanagaram’, a documentary he made in 1969 on the city of Hyderabad, got the Golden Nandi. Also, on the banner of the A.P. Kala Vedika that he set up, he honoured several luminaries from Bollywood.
