KHAMMAM: Leaders of the TDP, CPI(M), CPI and TRS staged a massive demonstration in the town on Saturday demanding the release of farmers, who were arrested in connection with the looting of fertilizer and pesticide stocks from different sale outlets and godowns. The protesters squatted at Mayuri centre stopping the vehicular traffic for more than one hour on Khammam - Suryapet road. Telugu Desam district committee leader Potla Nageswara Rao, CPI district Secretary Kunamneni Sambhasiva Rao, CPI(M) district committee leader Nunna Nageswara Rao and a host of other leaders took part in the protest. They said the farmers attack on the fertilizer godowns was not backed by any political party. The farmers revolted on their own and no political leader should be made scapegoat for such an incident. They also condemned the arrest of TDP leaders Nallamala Venkateswar Rao and M. Sudhakar.
