Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohd. Ahmedullah flagged off the World Telugu Mahasabha rally near the State guest house on Monday and added that it was time for Telugu-speaking people to rejoice.
Officials, teachers, students and NCC cadets carried placards and participated in the rally led by a Chekka Bhajana troupe to propagate World Telugu Mahasabha slated from December 27 to 29 at Tirupati. The Minister and District Collector V. Anil Kumar said that cultural meets, bhajans, sports, programmes involving poets, singers and cultural artistes, fancy dress and quiz competitions would be conducted in the division, mandal and village-levels from now onwards until December 19 to propagate about the mahasabha.
Twelve committees have been constituted for the purpose. MLC B. Pullaiah, DRDA Project Director G. Gopal, DEO K. Anjaiah, Joint Director of Agriculture Jonathan, District Youth Welfare CEO Mamatha participated.
