Women in large numbers participate in the religious procession
VIJAYAWADA: Idols of Lord Sambhavanath were taken out in a colourful procession by the Jain community in the city on Wednesday to mark the culmination of Paryushana Parva.
The religious procession was taken out under the aegis of Shri Sambhavnath Jain Swetamber Murti Pujak Sangh.
After taking blessings of panyas Sri Jinaratna Sagarji and panyas Sri Jitratna Sagarji, members of the community began the procession at the Jain temple in Marwari Street.
After passing through the areas of Samarangam Chowk, Ramanayya Cool Drink Centre, Hindu High School, B.R.P. Road, Vastralatha and Sivalayam Street, they returned to the temple.
Highlight of rally
A large number of women, attired in colourful clothes participated in the procession, which became cynosure of all eyes.
The idols of Lord Sambhavnath placed in a flower-bedecked vehicle were the highlight of theprocession.
At the temple, four members, who had been observing fast for the last 30 days were honoured.
The felicitation culminated in a community lunch at Sri Aradhana Bhavan.
President of the sangh Babulalji, secretary Pannalalji, vice-president Hanjarimalji and Dharamchandji Binayakiya and Uttamji coordinated the programme.
