PDSU activists taken into custody for holding demonstration

NIZAMABAD: Agitations and arrests of supporters of separate Telangana continued across the district on the fourth day on Wednesday. Students boycotted schools and colleges and took out rallies demanding the immediate release of Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The police arrested the TRS party district president A.S. Posetty, the CPI (ML)-New Democracy State leader V. Prabhakar and others when they staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate. Later, they were shifted to Makloor police station where they sat in relay hunger strike inside the police station.

Activists of Progressive Democratic Students Union were taken into custody when they held protest demonstration in support of the Telangana near RTC bus depot. They were bundled into waiting police vans and put in the one town police station. Meanwhile, the CPI (ML)-New Democracy district president K. Yadagiri and its leader A. Papaiah along with several other supporters of Telangana staged a dharna at Gandhi Chowk.

The police foiled their agitation by arresting them. Lawyers in the district court formed human chain before the court premises here and their counterparts in Kamareddy held demonstration at Nizam Sagar Chowrasta. Students of SSR College and a couple of private colleges also took part in the processions. However, the agitations were peaceful and no single untoward incident was reported from any party of the district, according to police sources.
