‘Agency not following suggestions’

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council House committee on Rajiv Rahadari four-lane works connecting Hyderabad to Indaram of Adilabad district via Siddipet and Karimnagar towns visited Karimnagar and inspected the road works on Sunday.

Incidentally, the House committee had earlier inspected the laying of four-lane road works in the month of November last year and received petitions from the villagers and others over the execution of poor quality works.

The House committee headed by MLC T. Bhanu Prasad Rao, other members Naradasu Laxman Rao, V. Bhupal Reddy, B. Venkat Rao, V. Gangadhara Goud, Arikela Narsa Reddy and others inspected the road laying works on Sunday in Shanigaram, Bejjanki, Renikunta, Durshed, Erukula and other places in Karimnagar district.

Speaking on the occasion, committee chairman Bhanu Prasad said that they had revisited the district to inspect the ongoing road works and check whether they were being executed according to the suggestions made by them during their earlier visit.

He said that the committee had earlier made some suggestions such as removal of curves and bends to prevent accidents, parking lots, grazing area for the cattle, plantations along the roads, sign boards etc.

The committee found that no suggestions made by them were being followed by the executing agency.

The committee has decided to meet again and discuss the irregularities and submit a comprehensive report to the government for making a visionary four-lane Rajiv Rahadari to prevent accidents and benefit road users.
