The State government has decided to develop 15 villages in the district under the rain-fed land development programme with an amount of Rs.2.94 crore. The programme would be implemented with the coordination of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project, Horticulture and Forest Departments.

Villages were identified from Kondapur, Kohir, Pulakal, Manoor, Nanganoor, Toguta and Kondapaka mandals to implement the project on a pilot basis.

Disclosing these details at a training programme held here on Saturday, Collector A. Dianakarbabu said that purchasing of sheep, goat, cattle, animal grazing, establishment of vermicompost units, farm ponds, repairs to tanks, distribution of horticulture plants and fodder plantation would be taken up under the scheme.

He said that the district would benefit under the scheme, where 50 per cent contribution would be from the government and remaining from the beneficiary, as it is more of rain-fed farming.
