Advertisement has caused anguish to farmers: TD president
Farmers had lost their standing crop because of rain
Says it is rubbing salt on the wounds of ryots
HYDERABAD: The TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday took serious exception to an advertisement issued by the Government hailing the rain in the State.
At a press conference, he charged that such an advertisement had caused anguish to the farmers, who lost their standing crop because of the havoc caused by the heavy rain.
“What sort of message does the Government want to send across to farmers by giving such advertisements? Is it not rubbing salt on the wounds of the ryots,” he questioned.
He demanded that the recommendations of the M. S. Swaminathan Commission and report of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) be implemented immediately.
He wanted the State Government to waive all crop loans to help farmers.
Meanwhile, at an informal meeting, the TDP president reportedly discussed the scope for moving a no-confidence motion against the Government in the Assembly. Party sources said Mr. Naidu discussed the issue with the TD Parliamentary Party leader K.Yerran Naidu, T. Devender Goud, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Kala Venkat Rao.
The TDP had earlier planned to move a no-confidence motion against Assembly Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy, for denying them an opportunity to speak in the House.
But now the party seemed to be toying with the idea of censuring the Government itself on the ground that it had failed to fulfil its promises and was seeped in corruption.
