A sudden downpour in the town on Saturday evening disrupted power supply, vehicular movement and BSNL telephone services at various places across the town. Trees were uprooted at Dwarakanagar, Gattaiah Centre and other localities under the impact of heavy downpour and strong gales.
Colonies turn into pool
Streets in several colonies virtually turned into water pools as drains overflowed at different places mainly in the low-lying localities in the town.
Motorists had a tough time in traversing the waterlogged and pothole-ridden roads leading to the NSP camp and other main centres in the town.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain lashed many parts of the district, including several remote tribal pockets in Bhadrachalam division.
According to information reaching here, forest streams overflowed on the culverts and low-lying causeways in different villages in Wajedu, Charla and Chintur mandals, disrupting road connectivity to several tribal habitations in the agency areas on Saturday evening.
