There appeared no let-up in the Samaikhyandhra agitation in West Godavari district as it entered the 60th day on Saturday.

The heavy rain failed to deter the demonstrators who took part in the protest by taking cover under umbrellas and empty chairs. The integrationists heard Gajjal Srinivas sing pro-Samaikhyandhra songs in Eluru, braving heavy rain.

It was a joint mission for the students and teachers who went hand in hand in the Samaikhyandhra demonstration in Eluru as part of the ‘Guru-Sishya Garjana.’ A large number of students and teachers from private educational institutions participated in the protest.

The protesters registered their protest by vending vegetables in Eluru and Palacol. The pro-unified State protagonists staged a demonstration with Gangireddulu (decorated bulls) at Vissakoderu and cut fodder for cattle at Kothapalem under Mogalturu mandal. In Chintalapudi, Laksha Galarjana was organised in support of unity of the State.

Rural artisans and artistes demonstrated their support for the agitation through ‘Kala Garjana’ which began on Friday evening and lasted till Saturday morning.

Activists also participated in the ‘Vanta-varpu’ at Achanta and detained the Ratnachal Express bound for Vijayawada from Visakhapatnam for an hour at Pulla on the Eluru-Tadepalli section.
