South Central Railway General Manger G.N. Asthana along with Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Pradeep Kumar and other branch officers and staff visited the flood-affected areas on Thursday.

The GM inspected the Electric Traction Training Centre (ETTC), Vijayawada and commended the upkeep of the Training Institute. He went on a tour to Samalkot and inspected Samalkot Railway station, various passenger amenities etc. Mr. Asthana announced a cash award of Rs.20,000 for Samalkot Railway Station towards the upkeep of the station and its circulating area.

The General Manager also visited the flood-affected bridge over River Thandava and the families of the Railway Colony at Tuni Railway Station and made enquiries about their well being.

He later distributed provisions and clothes which were donated by the Commercial Department of Vijayawada Division.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager L.S.R.K. Sastry initiated the drive to collect provisions from among his staff for distribution to about 184 families. Mr. Asthana advised the Officers and staff to keep up the good work and help the travelling public.

Emphasising the need for keeping keen vigil during such natural calamities, he announced a cash award of Rs.50,000 to the Tuni Station Manager P.C. Sahu towards the good work done to the flood-affected families of the Railway Colony at Tuni and rendering timely help. eom
