Railway employees owing allegiance to South Central Railway Employees' Sangh (SCRES) staged a demonstration on Guntur divisional office here on Monday protesting against the ‘anti-labour attitude of the zonal railway administration' to a programme sought to be conducted by the women's wing of SCRES at Rail Nilayam Auditorium (RNA) at Secunderabad on November 25 on the occasion of United Nation's Day of Elimination of Violence against Women.

SCRES Guntur division B.K. Visweswara Rao stated in a memorandum submitted to Guntur Divisional Railway Manager Anand Mathur that the zonal railway officials have allotted the RNA for organising the programme but denied permission at the eleventh hour without valid reasons causing embarrassment to the organisers, who could conduct the program at a different venue with much difficulty. This attitude of the zonal railway administration hurt the feelings of the employees, particularly the large number of women employees who gathered for the event.
