Kiran may launch programme from Rayalaseema region

The ‘Rachchabanda' (Village Square) programme will be held in every village from January 24 to February 12 to get direct feedback from people on implementation of welfare programmes and for redressal of their grievances.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy with Ministers -- Kanna Lakshminarayana, Botcha Satyanarayana, Anam Ramnarayan Redy, D. Sridhar Babu, Damodar Rajanarsimha and P.Sudarshan Reddy -- and officials of Planning Department here on Thursday.

Focus areas

The programme, conceived by late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to improve delivery system and to ensure welfare schemes reached every genuine beneficiary would focus on white ration cards, pensions, ‘Abhaya Hastham', Arogyasri, housing, NREGS, ‘Pavala Vaddi' to Self Help Groups under Indira Kranthi Patham.

All Ministers and MLAs would participate in the programme in their districts while Chief Minister would attend one programme in every district.

The grievances received during the interaction would be registered and acknowledged.

The District Collectors then segregate the grievances department-wise and take steps to redress them and follow it up with Action Taken Report to the Planning Department and the CMO.

Later, speaking to media persons, Housing Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana said that Rs.1,200 crore would be released to various departments related to above welfare schemes in the next 10 days including Rs.450 crore pending dues under Pavala Vaddi to SHG groups.

Though the Minister said it was not yet decided from where Mr. Kiran Kumar would launch the programme, it is expected to be from Rayalaseema region.

He would hold a video conference with Collectors on the new programme on January 18.

Ration cards

Referring to ration cards, Mr. Lakshminarayana said in the integrated survey five lakh families were found to be eligible for white cards. However as ‘Aadhar' Unique Identification cards would take another three months to be issued, they would be issued temporary coupons valid for three months to enable them avail ration quota and other benefits extended to white cardholders.
