Six persons were injured, four of them seriously, after they were attacked by a rabid dog on Saturday. They were shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.
Though initial reports indicated that 17 persons were attacked by the rabid dog, which was later killed by the villagers, an official put the figure at six. The incident took place at Gopalapura village in Chinnakodur mandal of Medak district on Friday night.
According to Dr. Ranga Reddy, District Medical and Health Officer, the dog suddenly started attacking people.
The victims were immediately shifted to the area hospital at Siddipet where they were administered anti-rabies vaccine. Four of them – Balaiah (70), Bumamma (35), Buchamma (28) and Lakshamamma (70) were shifted to Hyderabad for further treatment.
Dogs bite four children
Nalgonda Correspondent adds: Four children were bitten by stray dogs in Redlakanti area of Kodad mandal on Saturday.
They were taken to the Government Hospital, Vijayawada, after initial treatment in the town.
According to initial reports reaching here, no rabies vaccine was available in the hospital, causing anxiety to the parents and relatives.
