HYDERABAD: CPI (M) state committee secretary B.V. Raghavulu has written to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy urging the Government to bring in a law for providing reservation for weaker sections in private professional colleges.

In a letter to Mr. Reddy, which was released to the press on Tuesday, he wanted the Government to take immediate steps to enact the law based on the constitutional amendment adopted by Parliament.

If this was not done before the qualifying examinations for professional courses as also B.Ed next month there was a danger of students belonging to weaker sections losing their seats.

The law should be incorporated before the commencement of the new academic year.

Mr. Raghavulu suggested to the Government to hold discussions with managements of private institutions, intellectuals and student organisations on the desirability of having only one entrance examination for vocational courses.
