Devotees urged not to gratify the devasthanam staff

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Executive Officer L.V. Subramanyam on Friday appealed to the devotees not to indulge in gratifying employees to meet their personal ends, but bring such reprehensible practices to the notice of the management for stern.

Speaking at the Dial TTD Executive Officer programme, he urged the devotees to question the erring employees without any trepidation. When the employees are being paid well and are meant to be in the service of the devout.

Accepting the bribe is wrong, but offering bribe is also highly deplorable, he said adding that it was high time to put an end to such practices and protect the image of the institution.

Mr. Subramanyam, replying to a volley of questions and suggestions from the participants, was at pains explain the initiatives being taken up by the management in providing a hassle-free darshan to the devotees. He welcomed a suggestion from a woman devotee to explore the possibilities of introducing mini-vadas for distribution to pilgrims. He also said that the management was toying with the idea of organising Srinivasa kalyanams at Naimisaranyam, Chitrakoot and Ayodhya.

He appealed to the devotees to take part in the ‘Ratha Sapthami’ festival on February 17 in large numbers and witness the celestial procession of the Lord on seven different ‘vahanams’.
