Senior Congress leader Pyla Somi Naidu and his associates quit the Congress and are to join the Jai Samaikyandhra Party launched by former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Somi Naidu said that the Congress suffered a major setback in both Telangana and Seemandhra with its decision to divide the State. TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao deceived the Congress. The Congress blindly trusted his false promises on merger and went ahead to divide the State, he said, adding, “The Congress gave a political career to me. Despite, the decision to divide the State is against the aspirations and sentiments of people.”

Former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy launched the new party with an aim to keep the State united. Many united Andhra protagonists were joining the Jai Samaikyandhra Party, he said.
