The fifth national-level Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) (rural) tournament turned out to be a lacklustre affair with the absence of 50 per cent of the 28 States and all of the Union Territories. The organisers were a worried lot over the wastage of much of the resources that went into preparations for the tournament.

The lower attendance was being attributed to the fact that the tournament was reconvened after being postponed once. Moreover, the dates clashed with the schedule of exams for schools in many States in North India.

Only those States in the North which are closer to Andhra Pradesh have been participating. None of the States from the North-East were represented at the tournament.
