Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari will unveil a statue of Swamy Vivekananda at a function slated to be held at Sattupalli town on February 11.
According to sources, the Union Minister will arrive at Sattupalli at about 10 am and participate in a function to be organised by some local private educational institutions in the town on Friday. After a brief interaction with representatives of the educational institutions, she will leave for Visakhapatnam in the afternoon, sources added.
Meanwhile, in a statement the Adivasi Sankshema Parishad State general secretary Sunnam Venkataramana said that a delegation of the parishad would submit a memorandum to the Union Minister seeking her cooperation to ensure setting up of the proposed tribal university in Bhadrachalam division, the ideal location, as per the original plan.
“We will prevail upon the Union Minister to use her good offices to pave way for establishment of the proposed university in the predominantly tribal district of Khammam,” he said and deplored that the elected representatives had failed to obtain specific assurance in this regard from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during the latter's maiden visit to the district on Wednesday.
