Directorate of Field Publicity's State wing Director K. Shyam Prasad on Thursday said that the department had chalked out a plan for the year-2011 to create awareness about the welfare programmes at the grassroots level.

The department would concentrate on important issues such as HIV/AIDS, Iodine Deficiency Disorders, Girl Child Education and Right to Information Act and women empowerment.

Field Publicity Officers in various districts have been advised to concentrate on remote villages so that people in rural areas would get benefited. Mr. Shyam Prasad and Srikakulam District Field Publicity Officer G. Kondala Rao participated in an awareness camp organised in Kannevalasa of Kotabommali mandal where rangoli competitions were organised.

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Shyam Prasad said the Centre was encouraging youth and women in disseminating information about the welfare programmes. “We are getting positive feedback for the programmes organised by the Directorate of Field Publicity,” he said. He expressed satisfaction over the awareness camps being organised in Srikakulam district.
