The Government is weakening public sector undertakings by its disinvestment policy, CPI State leader T. Lakshminarayana alleged on Saturday.
Addressing a sadassu on the “Union budget 2012 – impact on people” in the State Teachers Union office here, Mr.Lakshminarayana said large PSUs like BHEL, ONGC, Nalco, Nelco, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant were sought to be auctioned. Citing the recent sale of ONGC shares, he accused the UPA Government of throwing public interests to the wind. The budget accrued no benefit to salaried class by merely enhancing the exemption limit by Rs. 20,000 and the practice of fixing a slightly higher exemption limit for women employees was given a go by. Petroleum products, kerosene and LPG prices could go up. CPI leaders G. Easwaraiah, T. Balasubrahmanyam, P. Channekesava Reddy, P. Krishnamurthy, L. Nagasiva Reddy, AITUC leader W.
