KCR had alleged that Goud visited his house many times to persuade him against quitting TDP

HYDERABAD: Senior Telugu Desam leader T. Devender Goud has offered to quit politics if Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao proved his charge that the former had visited his house several times to persuade him against quitting TDP. Reacting to Mr. Rao's allegation at the TRS rally in Karimnagar on Friday, Mr. Goud told reporters here on Saturday that the TRS leader was misleading people to gain political mileage.

Cabinet berth

On the other hand,Mr. Goud said Mr. Rao visited him once during the turmoil in 2001 when he counselled him against leaving the party. He said he had told Mr. Rao that he could not be accommodated in the Cabinet of N. Chandrababu Naidu as caste equations worked against him.

After quitting TDP solely because he was not inducted in the Cabinet, Mr. Rao whipped up emotions over separate Telangana, Mr. Goud alleged. Mr. Goud claimed that Mr. Rao lacked sincerity in leading separate Telangana movement. The latter tried to keep the issue alive so that he could use it in election campaign. Otherwise, where was the need for the ensuing elections in Karimnagar, he asked.

He said Mr. Rao targeted him because TDP improved its position in six Telangana districts in the local bodies' elections.
