The rail-roko being observed by the T-activists continued on the second day on Sunday in the district and some miscreants reportedly removed ‘fish plates' on the railway track between the Talamadla and Timmapur in Biknoor mandal in the morning after the Malkajigiri-Nanded passed off.

Several trains passing through the district were cancelled following the rail-roko. However, the passenger bound for Secunderabad was stopped at the railway station here by the railway authorities. The two trains were run with police escort. There is heavy police bandobust at the railway station here and entrance gates were closed by putting barricades.

Nalgonda Correspondent add: police arrested several TRS and TPJAC activists besides, N. Narasimha Reddy, president, Nalgonda Bar Association, near the railway station here on the second day of ‘rail roko'.Among those arrested were CPI district secretary, B. Narender Reddy, TRS president. Several women ‘natya mandali' members were also detained and lodged in the Two Town police station. The arrested activists/leaders staged demonstration in front of the station raising slogans against Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy, and Uttam Kumar Reddy, Huzurnagar MLA, branding them ‘traitors'.

Effigy burnt

Meanwhile, members of the Employees JAC set fire to an effigy of Jana Reddy to protest his appeal for calling off the ‘Sakala Janula Samme', which entered the 34th day on Sunday. Activists of the TRS youth wing (TRSV) burnt an effigy of Director-General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy to register their protest against the arrest of TJAC and other agitators here on Saturday.

Mahabubnagar Correspondent adds: The rail roko agitation continued in the district for the second day on Sunday. The railway authorities have operated only Kachiguda-Guntakal passenger train up and down with lesser coaches.

Former Minister Jupally Krishna Rao was arrested by police when he tried to go on to tracks at Divitipally village near Jadcharla town. He was shifted to Timmajipet police station. Protesting the arrest of Jupally Krishna rao, pro-Telangana activists staged a dharna in front of Timmajipet police station.

Members of Employee JAC who also tried to sit on the railway tracks were also arrested by the police at Kurumurthy station.
