Leaders of Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi on Friday performed ‘palabhishekam,' at the statue of Gurram Jashua in Nagarampalam and at the statue of Annamaya protesting against the desecration of statues of eminent Telugu personalities by pro-Telangana forces at Tank Bund in Hyderabad on Thursday.

They condemned the vandalism, descended at the statue of Jashua and cleaned it with milk. They also placed a memorandum at the foot of the statue. Samithi convener Krishna Rao, members Md. Hidayat, Venkat and Avagahana secretary Konda Sivarami Reddy took part in the protest.

In Guntur, media persons took out a rally protesting the attacks against reporters of various electronic channels.

The rally was led by Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) district president Bhaskar Reddy.

Earlier, students of Acharya Nagarjuna University under the aegis of Samaikyandhra Joint Action organised protests on the second day. Convener of JAC, Ramana said that the State Government should act immediately to end the violence.

He said students in Hyderabad were misguided by selfish politicians.
