HYDERABAD: The concept of energy conservation building activity should be propagated since the city kept growing at a rapid pace, said Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) Vice-Chairman Jayesh Ranjan.

Participating in a round table discussion on Draft Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC) 2006 on Tuesday, he called for more awareness and acceptance on the subject before legislation. HUDA was building an annexe at its present premises that is shaped in tune with principles of Green Building concept.

In his address, Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Vice-Chairman Lingaraj Panigrahi called for popularising building concepts that seek to tap the abundantly available sunlight and thereby conserve energy. HUDA Adviser S.P. Shorey participated.
