VSP, ECoR teams play friendly Twenty20 cricket match

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the East Coast Railway teams played a friendly Twenty20 cricket match at the Ukku Stadium here on Sunday. It was a bold initiative to promote sports with business, said a VSP press release.

The Divisional Railway Manager's XI won the match played in a friendly atmosphere and received good response from a good number of spectators. DRM N. Kasinath won the toss and put his team in to bat. The team scored 140 runs for the loss of five wickets and VSP replied with 109 for eight. Director (finance) of VSP P. Madhusudhan received the Best All-rounder prize.

CMD of VSP and chief guest A.P. Choudhary inaugurated the match by releasing colourful ‘Business Partner Balloons' in the presence of Mr. Kasinath and other officials of the Railway and VSP.

Lauded

Mr. Choudhary thanked the Railway authorities for their continuous support to VSP. Mr. Kasinath appreciated the initiatives of VSP in fostering relations with Railways and hoped that it would emerge as a big leader in the Indian steel industry. The Railways has always been supporting VSP in its journey towards excellence, he added.

The strong partnership arising out of the sporting spirit would help both VSP and Railways to achieve their turnover targets, Director (Commercial) of VSP T.K. Chand said. He hoped VSP would achieve sales turnover target of Rs.14,400 crore with the help of Railways.

Directors of operations and personnel Umesh Chandra and Y.R. Reddy also participated in the match. President of Visteel Mahila  Samiti Lata Choudhary, vice-presidents Sushma Chouhan, Preethi Roy, and Sasikala distributed prizes to the players.

Additional DRM of Waltair C. Madhusudhana Rao and senior railway officials H.S. Bajwa and H.L. Luwang were among those present.Former Ranji trophy player Adil Hussain, who led the Central Coalfields Limited team in which India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a player, coordinated the match.
