With an aim to create awareness on NSS activities among volunteers of MBA & M.Com courses, the NSS unit 3 of Palamuru University organised an orientation programme.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Pindi Pavan Kumar, Principal and NSS Chairperson, here, on Wednesday (12/12/12 at 12hrs:12min: 12sec) by cutting a cake in the presence of all participants.

Later, he advised students to join NSS and give way to community development through participation.

Dr. Vangara Bhumaiah, gave an orientation programme on NSS activities like special camping activities, culture activities on abolition of social evils and awareness generation.

Mr. Bhumaiah explained the NSS badge which consists of the Konark wheel, indicative of progress, red colour that stands for blood, blue colour for the cosmos whilethe 8 spokes indicate that 24 hours NSS volunteers should be ready for community service.

The NSS motto is ‘Not me but you’ and the aim is personality development with community service, he said. He exhorted everyone to join NSS and serve the society.

According to him, NSS is not for just providing certificates but to help in personality development and to increase communication skills, leadership skills and cultural skills.

NSS programme officer Unit 3 S. N. Arjun Kumar explained the role of NSS volunteers, self-discipline and prospects of being a volunteer.
