Justice Reddy Kanta Rao of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday stayed all further proceedings in a fresh criminal case filed against MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.

The MLA, who is also the floor leader of the MIM in the State Assembly, had earlier filed a petition in the L.B. Nagar court contending that the private complaint need not be entertained as the police had already taken cognizance of the offence. The plea was dismissed by the court.

Mr. Owaisi had then approached the High Court, saying he had already been arrested and later released on bail for the same offence.

Justice K.G. Shankar of the AP High Court on Thursday denied bail to P. Venkata Rao of Vijayawada, accused in the kidnap and murder of ten-year-old Nagavaishnavi in 2010.

This was the 11th such petition of the accused.

Nagavaishnavi, daughter of Prabhakar Goud, was killed and her charred remains found in a high-voltage furnace in Autonagar in Guntur town in January 2010.
