CPI (M) district committee has demanded that the government should order a judicial probe into the incident in which two tribal youths were injured in alleged police firing during combing operation in the Alubaka forest area in Venkatapuram mandal in the wee hours of Friday. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday evening, CPI (M) district secretariat members Nunna Nageswara Rao, Bandaru Ravi Kumar, and Macha Venkateswara Rao alleged that the incident exposed the police excesses on the gullible adivasis.

They deplored that the hapless adivasis were living in constant fear of attacks in volatile areas neighbouring the strife-torn Chhattisgarh State.

Stating that hundreds of adivasis were bound over by the police in the Agency areas, they alleged that the hapless adivasis were being detained by the police on the pretext of questioning during the combing operations.

“The gullible adivasis are embroiled in a precarious situation due to the ongoing conflict between the police and the Maoists,” they said.

Cases should be registered against the police personnel responsible for the firing incident near Bodhapuram under Alubaka gram panchayat, they demanded.
