ELURU: Joint Collector P. Venkatarami Reddy on Monday asked Eluru Tahsildar T. Chinnikrishna to conduct an inquiry into a case of social boycott reported in Ponangi area falling under 15th division in the city. The Joint Collector received a petition from the victims during ‘Prajavani’ programme on Monday. Tammisetti Chinnaiah, victim of the reported social boycott, appealed to the administration to initiate action against the perpetrators of boycott. Chinnaiah, belonging to Vaddera community, said his family was subjected to social boycott and fined Rs 50,000 by his caste elders for the alleged involvement of his son in a love affair. As a result, his family was deprived of work and subjected to hunger for several days, he lamented. The Joint Collector directed the tehsildar to take stringent action against the guilty as the social boycott was illegal.
