TIRUPATI: The various on-going works under the ambit of the TUDA have come in for a close review at a meeting held here on Monday by T.S. Appa Rao, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development.
Important among the projects that came under sharp focus was the multi-crore ‘Tourism cum Temple Township’ scheme currently under process. It is said that the government has already allotted 140 acres for the work proposed at Surappakasam near here. Ch. Penchal Reddy, who has recently taken over charge as the Vice-Chairman of the TUDA, and P. Mohan Reddy, Commissioner, Tirupati Municipal Corporation, also participated in the review meeting along with other concerned officials and apprised the Principal Secretary of the status of various projects under process.
The officials also sought to explain to the Principal Secretary, the complications that have cropped up in regard to the contractual, procedural, legal and such other aspects.
The meeting also focused its attention on various multiplex shopping malls proposed by the TUDA in the city in different modes. It discussed at length the road-blocks the projects have hit because of recession and its impact on the infrastructure. Appa Rao was said to have asked the official to take a comprehensive look at the situation and sort out the problems in a pragmatic way so as to ensure a hassle-free execution of the schemes without any more delay.
