A Principal of a nursing college at Payakaraopeta in the district was charged with sexually harassing girl students. Though the accused was said to have been misbehaving with the girls for a long time the victims chose to remain silent as he had allegedly threatened them.

G. Prabhakar, the accused principal, used to fondle the girls besides using vulgar language, whenever they turned up late for the class.

He used to issue threats to fail them in the practical examinations, if they complained to anyone. The girls hostel was situated on the college campus and accused allegedly used to visit the hostel in an inebriated condition during the nights.

Four girl students of V. Madugula, who were doing the 18-month Multi Purpose Health Worker Female (MHWF) course, lodged a complaint with the Payakaraopeta Police on Tuesday, against the ‘sexual advances’ of the principal.

Payakaraopeta SI G. Prem Kumar said that a sexual harassment case has been registered against the accused and investigation is on.
